48 Hours in Melbourne: The Ultimate Food & Bar Crawl
When you’ve only got 48 hours in Melbourne, there’s no time to mess around. We made it our mission to eat and drink like pros, and with a mix of research and hot tips from locals, we put together the perfect foodie adventure. From buttery pastries to rooftop vibes, here’s your guide to living it up in Melbourne.
Brunch / Breakfast
Lune Bakery
This place? Absolute chaos—in the best way. I’m not even a croissant person, but everyone said, “You HAVE to go,” and wow, were they right. Don’t sweat the line; it moves fast, and the payoff is next-level pastries. We went half-savory (ham and gruyere) and half-sweet (lemon curd) because balance is key, and both were straight-up 11/10.
Blonde Cafe
Think Middle Eastern fusion with a side of caffeine bliss. The refill drop coffee? Unreal. We ordered the lamb hash and eggs benny, and let me tell you, we will be back. If you’re in Fitzroy, this spot deserves a top spot on your list.
Lunch
Bowltiful
Craving noodles that warm your soul (and maybe burn your mouth a little)? This place delivers. It’s quick, hearty, and everything you want in a noodle bowl. The Braised Beef Brisket Noodle Soup is a must-try.
Dinner
Flint
We didn’t check the prices before sitting down—a bold move—but once you’re in, you commit. This spot is all about fire, smoke, and charcoal, and honestly? Worth every penny. The food was phenomenal, the vibes were immaculate, and their espresso martini? Hands-down the best I’ve ever had. If you’re going to ball out on dinner, this is the place to do it.
Drinks & Night Out
Amarillo
This is the kind of place where you can lose track of time—in the best way. Wine? Aperol spritzes? Sunshine streaming through the windows? Yes, yes, and yes. Bonus: Their daily happy hour runs until 7 PM, with $10 wines, $14.50 Aperol spritzes, and $8 beers.
Naked for Satan
Everyone—and I mean everyone—raves about this spot, and it didn’t disappoint. Rooftop views, house-infused vodka, and a killer vibe made it one of our favorite stops. You can’t visit Melbourne without grabbing a drink here.
The Provincial
This was giving major early-2000s, scream-your-heart-out energy, and honestly? We were here for it. Think nostalgic dance floor moments, singalongs to your favorite throwbacks, and a night you’ll laugh about later. Would we go back? Probably not, but sometimes you just need to shake it out.
Markets
Queen Victoria Market
No trip to Melbourne is complete without a stop here. From fresh seafood to artisan sausages, this market has it all. We were short on time, so we grabbed a bratwurst on the go, and it absolutely hit the spot.
Prahran Market
Located in the boujee South Yarra area, this market is perfect for a stroll (and a snack). The food here looked so good—we’re talking next-level meat pies and everything you’d want for a wine-and-cheese picnic. Sadly, we were too full to sample, but trust me, this spot is worth a visit.
And there you have it! Two days, countless bites, and one epic food and drink crawl. Melbourne, you were good to us.
